Today was a very relaxing day so there really isn't much to talk about.
I woke to a heavy and windy rainfall that has covered the land in mud yet again! By the time I was done with my chores, I pretty much felt like a raindrop. I was soaked to the skin through my jeans, muck boots, and my rain jacket. Just plain wet.
After that we all ate breakfast at Granny's. Zach cooked pancakes and bacon for us all. Jenn requested that I bring some peanut butter down, and boy was that a good idea. It made me think of my mom's chocolate chip peanut butter pancakes back home and how much I love and miss them (both the pancakes and my parents).
I had about two hours of down time between then and going to town. I called my parents and spent an hour on the phone with them, since I haven't had much time to call them in the past week. We've been texting, but that really doesn't do justice. In my next hour I read a bunch of Jenn's articles on CavvySavvy. They really got me thinking more about my riding and reflecting on some of the things I have done in the past, both good and bad. I can't wait to get some more of those readings done so I can continue to learn more.
Jenn and Zach came and picked me up in their Chevy Traverse. For anyone looking for a car, it's pretty comfortable and has all-wheel drive (but nothing could ever beat a Jeep -pre 2007- ... just saying). The dirt/gravel road was pretty muddy so Zach drove us out to the main highway. From there, Jenn took the wheel and we drove to Pierre (pronounced Pier for anyone who has thought otherwise). Zach took another vehicle and went up to Ty's (his son) promotion/graduation from 8th grade. Jenn and I had lunch at Subway in Pierre and then went to both Runnings and Walmart. Runnings was one of the best stores I've ever been to. They had eveything from mini windmills to clothing to pet and livestock necessities. Basically, I just wanted to buy everything. At Walmart we simply shopped for groceries for the next few weeks.
After Walmart we headed to Papa Murphy's to get "take-and-bake" pizzas. We drove the hour back to the ranch and baked the pizzas at Granny's. Granny had also made potato soup (my favorite) and it was probably the best one I've ever had.
Okay so this post was a bit longer than I thought it would be, but with my calves fed for the evening and the wind starting to die down (but not for long), it is time for bed and an exciting week ahead.
