Today was another learning day here at the clinic. There wasn't as much new information today, but it all tied together very well to what was said yesterday.
In the Foundation Horsemanship class, Buck started out talking about hobbles and how they are great for when you don't have anywhere to tie your horse up. He's in the middle of training one of his horses with it, so we got to see the horse figure out what he was supposed to do with them on, which was essentially nothing. Of course he wasn't too sure about it at first, but he did eventually calm down a bit. Buck looked for the acceptance that the horse wasn't supposed to move.
The most important thing Buck mentioned in the morning class was that you can't move on to a new topic when Plan B was required. You must continue to work at it until Plan A is the option the horse takes.
In the Horsemanship 2 class, the most important thing that stood out to me was when Buck said "Position 1 is Position 1, Position 2 is Position 2, it means one thing and one thing only." He also mentioned again that you can't keep going until Plan A prevails and works. This goes hand-in-hand with what he said in the morning class about Plan B. He stressed that you need to offer Plan A every time, even if you have to go to Plan B. Another great point that Buck brought up was that you want your horse to have the eagerness to search. They will always find the answer, you just need to let them.
Since we got to turn in early tonight, for dinner we had burgers and we watched The Ugly Truth with Gerard Butler and Katherine Heigl. Now it's off to bed for another day tomorrow.
