The last two days have been pretty mellow here on the ranch. Sunday we got up to do our chores and had breakfast at Granny's again. We then relaxed for a bit before heading out to move some more panels to work cows in. Melissa and I also cleaned out the ice chests to be used for beverages. After that was all said and done, we had lunch at Granny's while some more people arrived to help out.
We were all going to be horseback, but half the herd seemed to turn up lame that morning so Melissa, Burt, and I didn't ride. Burt went out on the ranger to help out and we manned the fort down at the corrals. I got some pretty neat pictures on them all coming in, which was quite exciting.
For the next five hours or so we worked cows, giving them vaccines and pregnancy testing some as well. Melissa woke up not feeling well, and continued to get worse as the day went on. It started out just being allergies, but now she's not doing to well. After working the cows, I fed our calves and Nora before heading to bed pretty early.
This morning I got up at 8am to find a text from Melissa that she still wasn't feeling better and was going to sleep in a little bit more to see if that would help. I did our chores and headed down to the barn. Zach and Jenn were working with two of the young studs, Nutterbutter and Cisco. I watered down the arena a little bit before watching Zach get on Cisco for the first time in about a year. He was a little sticky in the front and hind ends at first, but freed up quite a bit by the time Zach got off about twenty or so minutes later.
Not long after that, Jenn and I headed for Aberdeen, about two hours north. We stopped in Mobridge to have lunch with Colette, Calico's mom, before heading on. We stopped at Menard's, Walmart, and Kessler's before heading back down to the ranch. By the time we arrived, it was already past 8:30 in the evening. After some delicious fried chicken that we brought back, it's now time for bed.
